Sheet Metal Part Definition
Add Profile Cutting will open the “Profile Cutting Wizard” and facilitate the creation of a profile cutting work item. This can be any form of profile cutting you might have set within the system settings. The Profile Cutting calculator and wizard are covered in a separate tutorial.
Add Sheet Metal will access the Sheet Metal Calculator and any process that you have set up in the system settings will be available for use from within this calculator. Unit times for operations (ie folding time per unit in minutes), setup costs, and any materials needed are all options. Profitability is reported on the bottom of the form based on you selected process break even cost.
Add Subcontractor menu can link an operation to a part definition which you have to outsource to one of your subcontractors. This is a great feature given that the system will recognise this when an order is raised for this part and automatically create a Pending Purchase Order for the nominated subcontractor. The PO will be fully tracked by the system via barcodes until it is received.
Add Inventory allows for simple adding of inventory costed items. This can be any consumables, raw materials, parts or any inventory you track via LaserQuote.
Add Misc. gives the opportunity to add a work item that does not fit any of the previous descriptions.
New Quote will generate a Quote from this part definition.
New Order will raise and order from a part definition.
Duplicate is a great feature. As we all now most clients especially in the contract cutting industry will request pricing with multiple option. Customer supplied material, Company supplied material and /or multiple quantities. This can be easily achieved, by defining one option and then duplicating the record and only modifying the difference between the original and the copy.
The work items table below the description outlines a listing of all work items making up the part definition. A clear description of all process is available. Work-items can be deleted from this table. So, for instance in case a part definition was duplicated and the original had a folding work item and the copy does not require one, simply delete the sheet metal Folding work item and the part definition updates.
User details are recorded and the last user to modify the part definition is displayed together with a relevant time stamp.
The tabs on the bottom of the form display information related to the Original Customer to have had this part definition done for. The Quotes tab will display a listing of all the quotes generated for this part, any Quote request received via the customer interface, all the Jobs raised based on this part and a full history tab.
